108

Yesterday afternoon, I took part in a activity that required lighting 108 lamps. It's the prettiest thing i have seen next to bright city lights. However, like everything in life, the 108 lamps too has a strong meaning behind it. Apart from the fact 1 power 1 x 2 power 2 x 3 power 3 = 108. It is also the sacred number in Hinduism, Buddhism and dharmic religions. 108 is the number of the man as according to the Rosicrucian. The summit that a man can reach on the path during his incarnation and also the number of his achievements is 108.
other interesting facts about 108:
  • In astrology, 12 houses and 9 planets... 9 x 12 = 108
  • The diameter is exactly 108 times greater that the earth itself.
All these facts one might find inspiring and influential. On the other hand, knowing me, I just love how pretty the 108 lamps look once all lit up. Great Fire Hazard though so be careful if you try it at home.

Lighting it one by one with a few wishes in mind
